Studio Lifeforms Announces Etre, a Control-Inspired Cosmic Action Adventure

Etre sends a caped starjumper named Xyle into Orbis, a cosmic intelligence, to find his lost love Atel. No release date yet.

Studio Lifeforms has announced Etre, a new third-person action adventure game, according to rockpapershotgun.com. Players take on the role of Xyle, a caped starjumper who travels to Orbis, a cosmic intelligence, in search of his soulmate Atel.

Orbis is described as an interconnected labyrinth of luminous architecture, home to societies including two warring factions. Its angel tech is corrupted, giving rise to hostile living geometry, and players will use fluid combat, spatial puzzles and object scanning to unlock lore documents as they explore.

The game's Steam page sets out a branching premise: player choices and discoveries determine what Orbis becomes - a balanced living world, a transcendent god-mind, or something more terrifying.

Inspirations and release timing

Etre draws inspiration from 1970s and '80s European graphic novels and from Remedy's Control, and has been compared to Metroid Prime and Double Fine's Psychonauts games. No release date has been announced.
