Ubisoft Proposes RedLynx Closure, 70 Job Cuts at Singapore Studio
Ubisoft has proposed closing Finnish studio RedLynx and cutting 70 positions at Ubisoft Singapore, with up to 122 jobs affected in total.
Ubisoft has notified its team of a proposal to close its Finnish studio RedLynx, subject to local consultation procedures, and plans to cut 70 positions at Ubisoft Singapore, according to digitaltoday.co.kr. The two measures together could affect up to 122 jobs.
The proposed RedLynx closure could affect up to 52 positions. The Singapore cuts represent about one fifth of the studio's roughly 350 staff and are intended to match future production demand.
Ubisoft said the Singapore studio still plays an important role in its global production organization. The studio opened in 2008 as a support studio and worked on naval combat for the Assassin's Creed series, later leading development of Skull and Bones.
RedLynx was acquired by Ubisoft in 2011 and is known as the developer of the Trials series. Its last self-developed game was the mobile decoration and puzzle game Gwen's Getaway, which soft-launched in 2023 and was discontinued about a year later. RedLynx also had layoffs of dozens of staff a year ago.
Earlier this year, Ubisoft cancelled at least six games under cost-cutting and closed studios including Winnipeg and Belgrade. Layoffs also took place at Star Wars Outlaws developer Massive Entertainment, Ubisoft Stockholm and the Paris headquarters.
