Fan-Made Wind Waker Recomp Now Playable on PC via GitHub
The native PC port runs without emulation and supports widescreen, save states and frame rates up to 240FPS, but users must supply their own game files.
A fan-made native PC recompilation of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, titled Wind Waker Recomp, is now playable through its creator's GitHub repository, according to Screen Rant. The project runs as a native PC application rather than through classic emulation.
The recompilation supports gamepad and mouse-and-keyboard controls, higher rendering resolutions, widescreen displays and save states. Frame interpolation allows frame rates of up to 240FPS depending on the user's hardware.
It also adds quality-of-life changes: faster climbing, quicker doors, faster scene transitions and the Swift Sail from the HD version of the game.
The port does not include Nintendo's proprietary game files, so players need their own legal copy of The Wind Waker to use it.
