World of Horror gets free As Below So Above PC update
The free PC update adds two new Old God invasions, three playable protagonists, a Mountains location and a reworked modding system.
World of Horror has received a free PC update titled As Below So Above, developer panstasz and publisher Ysbryd Games announced. The update adds two new Old God invasions for players to identify and thwart, alongside three new playable protagonists.
The new invasions are IKT-YOSIS, THE FIRST NIGHTMARE, which sleeps in a chamber beneath the mountains and reshapes the world above with strange weather as rituals are performed, and THE WAR FOR SHIOKAWA, in which four cults summon their eldritch masters at the same time. The three new protagonists are Kiriko, who uses Tarot cards; Satoshi, a hiker; and Makoto, a school AV club member.
Players can recruit 10 additional allies through a reworked conversation system that triggers at random between investigations. The update also adds a new Mountains location, 60 events, 19 enemies, three challenges and 30 items.
Scenario Mode and modding
A new Scenario Mode features self-contained stories set before the main game, the first following a hunt for three students lost in the woods with multiple endings. A new modding system is backwards compatible with mods made for version 1.0.
The developers say As Below So Above is the game's largest update and makes it 20% bigger. According to Rock Paper Shotgun, an earlier review called World of Horror a unique, stylish and layered horror adventure despite repetitive combat; the game is a Junji Ito-inspired apocalypse RPG.
