Xbox manager says devs who reject AI "should not be in business"

Brandon Stirrup said he vibe coded a bad but improvable game in two days, spending only three hours actively on it.

Brandon Stirrup, a senior business strategy manager at Xbox, posted on Twitter that game developers who refuse to accept a place for AI in their future should not be in business, according to gamesradar.com. In the same posts, he said he had vibe coded a game in two days while spending only three hours actively on it.

Stirrup described the result as a bad but improvable game and shared a demo of a basic soccer simulation generated through prompting. He also said anyone can build a game, and argued that a five-to-ten year plan without AI in 2026 makes no sense because everything planned will be superseded.

He further claimed that hundreds of Xbox employees actively use AI, and that gaming is the only industry pretending not to use AI.

Stirrup's comments were made in his capacity as an Xbox staff member and were posted on his personal Twitter account.

Earlier AI mandates elsewhere

In October 2025, it was reported that EA was making chatbots mandatory across the company, an earlier example of AI tools being pushed into studio workflows.
