Developer Publishes AI-Reverse-Engineered GoldHEN Without Permission

Zer0Day released a reverse-engineered copy of the closed-source PS4 homebrew tool on GitHub, citing freedom of speech and saying he does not care what the GoldHEN team thinks.

A developer known as Zer0Day has published an AI-assisted reverse-engineered version of the closed-source PlayStation 4 homebrew tool GoldHEN on GitHub without the GoldHEN team's permission. The release was made on October 6, 2026.

Zer0Day justified the release by claiming a right to freedom of speech and expression, stating he does not care what the GoldHEN team thinks. He was open about using AI for the reverse-engineering work.

The GoldHEN team's project was copied and published online without permission. GoldHEN has taken roughly five years to develop and is primarily designed by Sistro, who stated in the project's GitHub README that the source is private due to past abuse of the open code.

Three days before the release, Read Only Memo reported roughly 1,300 forks of the PS5 emulators KytyPS5, SharpEmu, and AnyPS5 on GitHub. Kotaku reported on the GoldHEN release.
