Alan Cumming Surprised to Return as Nightcrawler in Avengers: Doomsday
The actor says he did not expect to be asked back and describes his role in the Marvel film as limited.
Alan Cumming said he was pleasantly surprised to be asked to return as Nightcrawler in Avengers: Doomsday, more than 20 years after he first played the character. The actor discussed the role in an interview reported by collider.com.
Cumming said he did not expect to be invited back, and described the film as "superhero soup." He added that Nightcrawler, whose civilian name is Kurt Wagner, does not do that much in Avengers: Doomsday.
Even so, Cumming said he enjoyed playing the character again and found him sensitive and funny.
Cumming first played Nightcrawler in 2003's X2: X-Men United. In that film the actor famously disliked the experience because of the makeup process.
