Alfonso Cuarón gave a master class at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea on Thursday, discussing his career and the making of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The discussion was moderated by Korean director Yeon Sang-ho. Cuarón also attended an Imax screening of his film Gravity during the festival.
Reflecting on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Cuarón said the production gave him two of the most beautiful years of his life, and that the film's success allowed him to later make Children of Men.
From Harry Potter to Korean Cinema
Cuarón's ties to Yeon Sang-ho extend beyond the Busan stage: he executive produced the Korean director's 2025 mystery thriller Revelations.
Cuarón wrote Children of Men before making Harry Potter, but no producer was willing to take it on at the time, and he went on to direct the film in 2006. He directed Gravity in 2013.
