New Avengers: Doomsday TV Spot Alters Chris Evans' Steve Rogers

A TV spot aired after Game 1 of the World Series repeated the Steve Rogers reveal but fans spotted changes to Chris Evans' eyebrows, hairline and nose.

A new TV spot for Avengers: Doomsday aired after fresh footage was shown during Game 1 of the World Series, and viewers quickly noticed that Marvel Studios had made subtle changes to Chris Evans' Steve Rogers, according to slashfilm.com.

The spot repeats the scene from the earlier trailer in which Steve Rogers emerges from the shadows to greet Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth. Fans and ComicBookMovie pointed to differences in Evans' eyebrows, hairline and nose between the original trailer and the new TV spot.

This is not the first tweak to the film's marketing footage. Marvel Studios previously added a Jack Kirby-inspired visual upgrade to Victor Von Doom's energy blasts in an updated scene. Robert Downey Jr. plays Von Doom.

Background

Downey Jr.'s casting as Victor Von Doom in 2024 prompted accusations of desperation. Evans' return as Steve Rogers was reported in 2024 and confirmed in December 2025 with the first Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailer, after the character gave up his Captain America shield in 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
