Director Yeon Sang-ho, producer Yang Yumi and actor Koo Kyo-hwan appeared at the screening of Colony at the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival on November 4, according to cinemacafe.net. Japanese dub cast members Nao and Yuki Kaji also took the stage at the event.

Yeon said the film has been released in many countries and that its Japanese premiere feels special. Producer Yang Yumi said the production concentrated on how the zombies are depicted, including their action and the sound design.

Koo, who plays Seo Yeong-chul, said he felt a one-sided wish had come true when he was offered the role. Yeon said he made the offer immediately because the character required an extraordinary actor.

Nao, who voices Kwon Se-jung in the Japanese dub, said she was moved that a new kind of zombie had been born. Kaji said he watched Train to Busan on the Shinkansen during the previous day's trip to Osaka, and revealed that he appears in Armored Trooper VOTOMS: Gray Witch, which opens this month.

Koo offered to voice the Korean dub of a future Nao work, and said the same to Kaji. Colony opens in Japan on January 1, 2027.
