Curry Barker released a new short film, Mama Bear, on his That's a Bad Idea YouTube channel on Thursday morning, October 29, 2026. The film runs about five minutes.
Barker wrote, directed and edited the short himself. Jon Lee Richardson stars as Floyd, with Katie Sarife, Ericka Kreuz and Joshua Snyder rounding out the cast.
Mama Bear was sponsored by Microsoft. IndieWire reported the release.
The short arrives after a busy stretch for Barker. Obsession, which Focus Features acquired at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, grossed more than $500 million worldwide in spring 2026.
He has also lined up a Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot for A24 and a mystery original horror film for Universal under an eight-figure deal. Anything But Ghosts, a supernatural comedy co-starring Cooper Tomlinson, was completed before Obsession opened and is set for theaters in May 2027.
