Curry Barker Wants to Make an R-Rated Adventure in the Spirit of Indiana Jones
The Obsession director told Gold Derby he and producing partner Cooper Tomlinson have discussed a boundary-pushing adventure film.
Curry Barker said he wants to make an R-rated, boundary-pushing adventure movie in the spirit of Indiana Jones. The filmmaker behind Obsession made the comment in an interview with Gold Derby.
Barker said he and producing partner Cooper Tomlinson have discussed the idea of a "crazy adventure movie." He stressed that he is not proposing an R-rated entry in the Indiana Jones franchise itself, but a film that captures that spirit without holding back.
Before the MPA introduced the PG-13 rating, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom were released as PG-rated adventures that still carried intense imagery. The Walt Disney Company owns the Indiana Jones franchise.
Earlier this year, Barker wrapped production on his next movie, Anything but Ghosts. He is also attached to develop a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Obsession, made with Blumhouse Productions outside the major studio system, earned critical acclaim and financial success.
