Disney's Clay to Use Claymation-Style CG, Jared Bush Confirms
Walt Disney Animation Studios CCO Jared Bush says the 2028 film Clay is CG, not stop-motion, but will look unlike anything the studio has done.
Walt Disney Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush confirmed on November 6, 2026, at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival that the upcoming animated film Clay will use a visual style resembling claymation, according to Collider.
Bush said the film will be CG animation rather than stop-motion, but will look unlike anything the studio has done before.
Directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn, Clay follows Flip, a reluctant mentor voiced by Kieran Culkin, who guides a young ball of clay named Mushy. The story is set in a magical forest where characters are born as balls of clay and shaped by parental figures and mentors.
Disney announced Clay at D23, with a theatrical release planned for 2028.
