A24's Elden Ring film budget nears $200 million, report says

The Wall Street Journal reports the live-action adaptation would be A24's biggest budget yet, nearly three times its previous record.

The live-action Elden Ring film being made by A24 has a production budget approaching 200 million dollars, The Wall Street Journal reported. That would make it the largest budget in A24's history, according to the outlet.

A24 has not officially disclosed the film's budget. The reported figure is roughly three times the company's previous record, about 70 million dollars for Marty Supreme starring Timothée Chalamet. Director Alex Garland's Civil War was made for about 50 million dollars.

The film is produced by A24 in cooperation with Bandai Namco Entertainment. Garland directs and wrote the screenplay, and George R. R. Martin, who worked on the game's worldbuilding, is involved in the production.

The cast includes Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw, Cailee Spaeny, Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce and Nick Offerman. The plot and the actors' roles have not been revealed. The film was shot in IMAX format, and filming finished in July 2026.

Elden Ring is scheduled to open in theaters on March 3, 2028. In April 2026, The Hollywood Reporter reported that the film's budget was well above 100 million dollars.
