Gene Stupnitsky is in final negotiations to direct the romantic comedy One Month Mark, reuniting with star and producer Jennifer Lawrence. The project is set up at Apple Original Films, with Apple Studios and Chernin Entertainment producing.
Lawrence is attached to star and produce through her Excellent Cadaver banner. Sophie Fleur de Bruijn wrote the script. David Ready and Peter Chernin will produce, with Lawrence and Justine Ciarrocchi producing for Excellent Cadaver. De Bruijn and Brady Fujikawa will executive produce.
With Stupnitsky's deal nearing completion, the studio will now aim to cast Lawrence's co-star, according to Deadline.
Background
Lawrence and Stupnitsky previously worked together on the comedy No Hard Feelings. Stupnitsky's other credits include the 2019 Universal comedy Good Boys, which he directed, and co-creating the Emmy-nominated series Jury Duty. He also co-wrote comedy features including Bad Teacher.
In the summer of 2025, Chernin Entertainment landed the spec script after an auction that drew interest from more than 40 producers.
