Report: Heated Rivalry Season 3 and Holiday Film in the Works

Heated Rivalry season 3 is in the works and will be filmed back-to-back with season 2, Deadline reported, alongside a standalone holiday-themed movie planned for a December 2027 theatrical release. A Crave representative responded to the report by saying there are no additional projects to confirm.

According to the report, both season 2 and season 3 of the series will consist of six episodes each. Production on the two seasons is expected to wrap before the reported standalone film shoots this December.

The film is described as a Christmas or holiday-themed story that does not centre on Shane or Ilya, but does include Scott, Kip and other familiar characters. It may draw on Rachel Reid's short story "Merry Christmas, Scott and Kip!", which follows the couple's first Christmas together.

Heated Rivalry, based on Rachel Reid's novels, became a pop culture phenomenon when it arrived on HBO Max in 2025, with a release date listed as November 28, 2025, on Crave. Season 2 is in production and is confirmed not to return until 2027, with a spring premiere expected.

Series creator Jacob Tierney previously clarified that season 2 would have six episodes rather than 12, after actor Dylan Walsh said in a Cameo video that the show was filming 12 episodes, and that filming would conclude by the end of the year.
