Imax Posts Record Q3 Revenue of $175 Million on 'The Odyssey'
Net income reached $117.1 million and worldwide Imax box office hit $712 million, as Christopher Nolan's film became the company's top release.
Imax reported record third-quarter revenue of $175 million for 2026, up 64% from $106.7 million in the same period a year earlier, according to Variety. Net income climbed to $117.1 million from $22.6 million a year earlier, and adjusted earnings per share reached $2.21, compared with 47 cents in 2025.
The company's worldwide box office for the quarter was $712 million, 94% above the $368 million posted a year ago. The results were driven by Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which has surpassed $550 million at the Imax box office — about 30% of its $1.8 billion worldwide total.
The Odyssey is now Imax's highest-grossing release ever, overtaking 2009's Avatar, which took $271 million. The film was the first feature shot entirely with Imax cameras.
Other top-earning titles on Imax during the quarter were Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Resident Evil and Avengers Endgame Encore. Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday are scheduled for December, with Avengers: Doomsday playing only in Imax in China.
Imax said it has signed agreements for more than 100 systems worldwide so far in 2026, 65% of them for new locations, and expects to exceed earlier projections of $1.4 billion for the full year.
