Jessica Lange Says She Is 'Coming to an End' as an Actor

Lange told Rolling Stone her last film may be Long Day's Journey Into Night, in which she plays Mary Tyrone.

Jessica Lange told Rolling Stone that she feels she is coming to an end as an actor, and that her retirement from the screen is likely near. The actress said her last film may be Long Day's Journey Into Night, in which she plays Mary Tyrone.

Lange added that a couple of projects that have been in the works forever may or may not happen. She said it does not seem easy to get things made anymore, at least not the kind of films that interest her.

The film adaptation of Long Day's Journey Into Night opened in theaters in September and was shot in 2022. Earlier this year Lange returned to film and television with that film and American Horror Story 13.

Lange won a Tony award in 2016 for her stage performance in Long Day's Journey into Night. Her other honors include Oscars for Tootsie and Blue Sky, three Emmys and four Golden Globe wins.
