1-2 Special Acquires 'La Gradiva' for December 18 U.S. Release
Marine Atlan's debut feature, co-written with Anne Brouillet, lands a winter stateside rollout after Cannes Critics' Week and a New York Film Festival berth.
1-2 Special has acquired Marine Atlan's debut feature 'La Gradiva' and will release it in U.S. theaters on December 18, according to IndieWire. The distributor picked up the film for a winter stateside rollout.
Atlan directed, wrote and shot 'La Gradiva'; Anne Brouillet co-wrote the screenplay. The cast includes Antonia Buresi as Mercier, Colas Quignard as Toni, Mitia Capellier-Audat as James and Suzanne Gerin as Suzanne.
The acquisition arrives as 1-2 Special, launched in 2025, builds out its slate. The company was at the New York Film Festival with the Cannes-winning German Oscar entry 'Everytime' and earlier this week bought 'A Day in the Life of Jo: Chapter Phaedra,' the Venice Prize winner and NYFF breakout.
'Everytime' is set for a qualifying run in November ahead of a wider release, while 'La Gradiva' is first up for theaters on the 1-2 Special calendar.
Separately, France chose 'Minotaur' to represent the country in the Best International Feature Oscar category.
Cannes Critics' Week, where the film screened, has historically helped propel filmmakers such as Bernardo Bertolucci, Andrea Arnold, Leos Carax, Julia Ducournau, Alejandro González Iñárritu, David Robert Mitchell, Justine Triet, François Ozon and Gaspar Noé to competition and onto the international scene.
