Lee Sinje is preparing her feature directing debut, Wanita, which wrapped shortly before the Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival and is now in post-production. The film is expected to be completed next spring in time for festival submissions.
At the same festival, Dead Tide, which Lee co-wrote and co-produced, had its world premiere in the Hidden Dragons competition at the 10th edition. Lee also sits on the jury for the Crouching Tigers international competition at Pingyao.
In 2023, Lee and Kethsvin Chee each directed an episode of the education documentary series Dear Child, How Are You?. Dead Tide was previously selected for the Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF), where it won the La Fonte Award.
The Pingyao festival closes on Sept. 30. Lee returns to theater in Edward Lam's musical The Xue Baochai Moments, running in Hong Kong Nov. 13–15. In December, she heads back to Malaysia to star in a horror film.
