Leguizamo Says He Nearly Sued Marvel Over Spider-Man: Homecoming Role

John Leguizamo says he was replaced by Michael Keaton as the Spider-Man: Homecoming villain after terms were accepted, and considered legal action.

John Leguizamo has said he nearly sued Marvel after losing the villain role in Spider-Man: Homecoming to Michael Keaton, according to an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Leguizamo said he was initially offered the part and that negotiations had progressed to the point where terms were accepted, though he had not signed a contract. He said a studio head then called him to take the role back because Keaton wanted it.

Leguizamo said he could have sued over the situation but chose not to, and instead moved on to other projects.

In 2017, Michael Keaton played Adrian Toomes, also known as Vulture, in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Keaton's Vulture later appeared in the post-credits scene of Morbius, which showed him sent from the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Earth-616 to Sony's Spider-Man universe.

Two years ago, Keaton addressed speculation about his return ahead of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, saying he hadn't talked to anybody about anything. The story was originally reported on SuperHeroHype.
