Deadline: Mary Bronstein's Nasty Enters Pre-Production
A new Deadline report on Skydance's upcoming slate says the film, which had Jenna Ortega and Rose Byrne attached earlier this year, is now in pre-production.
Mary Bronstein's film Nasty is now in pre-production, according to a new Deadline report on major upcoming Skydance releases. The script is a 2024 Black List entry written by Isabella Jarosz.
Nasty is being made at Clockwork, the specialty film division of Warner Bros. (now Skydance) that launched in December 2025. Margot Robbie's production company LuckyChap is producing.
Jenna Ortega was announced as part of the film earlier this year, with Rose Byrne also attached. For Bronstein, Nasty follows If I Had Legs I'd Kick You (2025), which earned Byrne her first Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
Ortega recently appeared in Hurry Up Tomorrow (2025), Death of a Unicorn (2025) and Tim Burton's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024). Filming on Wednesday season 3, in which she plays Wednesday Addams, was completed in late September, and the series is expected to return at some point in 2027.
Byrne followed If I Had Legs I'd Kick You with Tow (2025) and Fallen Angels (2026).
