Neon has unveiled its Oscar campaign strategy for Luca Guadagnino's film Artificial, slotting Andrew Garfield in the supporting actor category and Yura Borisov in the lead actor race, according to Variety. The film will have its world premiere at the New York Film Festival before heading to the BFI London Film Festival.

Mark Rylance will campaign in the supporting actor race for his role as Geoffrey Hinton, while Monica Barbaro will seek supporting actress recognition for her role as Mira Murati. Borisov plays Ilya Sutskever in the film.

The campaign will also push for best picture, director, original screenplay and craft categories. Simon Rich is among the entities attached to the project.

For Guadagnino, Artificial marks his fifth appearance at the New York Film Festival, following Call Me by Your Name, Bones and All, Queer and After the Hunt. Call Me by Your Name earned four nominations at the 90th Oscars and won adapted screenplay for James Ivory.

Garfield, a two-time best actor nominee for Hacksaw Ridge (2016) and Tick, Tick ... Boom! (2021), was nominated in the supporting actor race 16 years ago for playing a Facebook co-founder in The Social Network. Borisov received his first Oscar nomination two years ago for his role in Sean Baker's Anora.
