Netflix Hires Steve Wilson for Podcast Content Acquisitions
Wilson joins Netflix on a contract basis to lead podcast acquisitions, after 15 years at Apple and a later role at Daylight Media.
Netflix has hired Steve Wilson to lead its podcast content acquisitions on a contract basis, Variety confirmed. Wilson will head the streamer's podcast expansion.
Wilson spent 15 years at Apple, where his last role was heading marketing for Apple Podcasts, and he left the company in December 2020. He then spent nearly six years at podcast studio QCode as chief strategy officer before joining Daylight Media in the same position.
The hire comes as Netflix offers more than 60 video podcasts on its service, as reported in September. The company's original video podcast lineup includes "Murder With My Husband", "The Pete Davidson Show", "Shut Up Evan", "The Puzzle Room With David Kwong" and "Allegedly".
In October 2025, Netflix announced layoffs of about 6% of employees, roughly 1,000 jobs, mainly in product, technology, legal and HR teams. Alongside the layoffs, the company ousted executives including chief content officer Bela Bajaria, head of film Dan Lin, Doug Belgrad and Carolina Garcia, with Peter Rice tapped to replace Bajaria.
On Netflix's Q3 2026 earnings call, co-CEO Ted Sarandos said the company could do better.
