Red Sparrow Lands on HBO Max Eight Years After Release
The Jennifer Lawrence spy thriller, based on a former CIA officer's novels, joins HBO Max's streaming library.
Red Sparrow has been added to HBO Max's streaming library, more than eight years after the film's theatrical release, according to Collider. The spy thriller stars Jennifer Lawrence.
The film is adapted from a trilogy of novels written by a former CIA officer. It drew mostly mixed reviews on its initial release, which limited its broader appeal at the box office-window stage.
The addition gives HBO Max subscribers a title that sits alongside a busy run of espionage releases. Marvel's Black Widow, released in 2021, grossed $380 million globally and holds a 79% Rotten Tomatoes score, while the John Wick spin-off Ballerina debuted theatrically in 2025.
