New programming
Sitges Film Festival's Woman in Fan Lab initiative is participating in Sanfic Industria for the Southern Cone of Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. The Santiago-Guadalajara Queer Incubator has been expanded with backing from Netflix, and the inaugural online Fantastic WIP will review six genre films in post-production.
The opening ceremony honors Fabula producer Juan de Díos Larraín and opens with Ira Sachs' AIDS drama 'The Man I Love,' starring Rami Malek. The festival will also honor actress Antonia Zegers with a retrospective of five of her films.
Sanfic's genre push began some seven years ago with Sanfic Mórbido LAB, led by Pablo Guisa. Since last year, the Santiago Lab for fiction and documentary projects has attracted more established directors; this edition selected 16 fiction and 17 documentary projects from some 300+ applications.
