Tristan Thompson Joins Jason Zada's Bitcoin Film Satoshi as Producer

Shooting on the Satoshi Nakamoto thriller is planned for spring 2027 in Saudi Arabia and Los Angeles, Variety reports.

Tristan Thompson has joined Satoshi, Jason Zada's feature film about Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto, as a producer. Variety reported the addition on November 3, 2026.

Thompson produces alongside Enderby Entertainment principals Rick Dugdale and Dan Petrie Jr. Brian D. Evans, Aaron Arnold and Austin Arnold are also on board as producers.

Shooting is planned to begin in Saudi Arabia and Los Angeles in spring 2027, with the production set to use JAX Film Studios in Riyadh. The film is one of the first projects under a multi-picture deal between Enderby Entertainment and Saudi Arabia's Yellow Camel Studios.

Zada and Nate Atkins wrote the shooting script, based on an original screenplay by Cam Cannon. The logline follows a troubled FBI agent who partners with a charismatic defense attorney to unmask Satoshi Nakamoto.

A representative said AI will be used as a tool in making Satoshi but is not the main focus of how the film will be made.

Another Bitcoin project in the pipeline

Bitcoin was created in 2008 in the wake of the global financial crisis as a way to circumvent traditional financial institutions. A separate film, Doug Liman's Bitcoin (also known as Killing Satoshi), starring Casey Affleck, Pete Davidson, Gal Gadot and Isla Fisher, is currently in post-production. Enderby Entertainment, founded in 2006, previously produced Blackway, which premiered at Venice in 2015.
