The edition pairs a new restoration of the 1986 theatrical cut in Dolby Vision with MGM's HD reconstruction of the Legacy Director's Cut on Blu-ray.

Vinegar Syndrome has announced a 4K Ultra HD release of Michael Mann's 1986 film Manhunter. The edition is available in a Standard Edition and a Limited Slipcase Edition.

The Original Theatrical Version is presented in Dolby Vision on 4K UHD, using a new restoration created by Vinegar Syndrome for this release, and is also included on Blu-ray. The Legacy Director's Cut is included on Blu-ray only, sourced from an HD reconstruction supplied by MGM.

The Theatrical Cut runs 120 minutes; the Legacy Director's Cut runs 124 minutes. Special features include commentary tracks with filmmaker and film scholar Gillian Wallace Horvat on the Theatrical Cut and with Michael Mann on the Legacy Director's Cut.

New and archival extras include interviews with Brian Cox, William Petersen, Tom Noonan, Joan Allen and cinematographer Dante Spinotti, along with still galleries and a theatrical trailer. The limited edition adds an 80-page perfect-bound book with essays and reversible cover artwork.
