Weta FX, TAICCA to Launch AI Production Hub in Taiwan on Nov. 6

The partnership covers joint investment, AI research and development, and training, and will be unveiled on the main stage at Taiwan Creative Content Fest in Taipei.

Weta FX and the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) have announced a partnership aimed at making Taiwan a center for AI-driven screen production in Asia. The plan will be formally launched on Nov. 6 on the main stage of Taiwan Creative Content Fest in Taipei, after the festival's opening ceremony, according to Variety.

The partnership is built on three strands: joint investment, AI research and development, and training new talent.

TAICCA chair Sue Wang will appear at the launch alongside Weta FX CEO Daniel Seah, chief technology officer Kimball Thurston and VFX supervisor Sheldon Stopsack.

Taiwan's Ministry of Culture set up TAICCA in 2019 to support Taiwanese content from development through production, distribution and overseas marketing.

Weta FX, which appeared at the Taoyuan International Film & Technology Forum in August, worked on the Avatar franchise, most recently on 2025's Avatar: Fire and Ash.
