Amazon Blocks Meta's Muse AI Agent From Its Retail Site

Meta is also working with Walmart, Stripe and others on an open standard for agent-to-business communication, according to TechCrunch.

Amazon has begun blocking Meta's Muse AI agent from its retail site, preventing the agent from browsing or making purchases from Amazon's product catalog, according to TechCrunch.

Meta said in a blog post that the open standard it is developing with industry partners will focus on agent-to-agent communication for online commerce. Partners listed as working on the protocol include Walmart, Stripe, Sierra, Genesys, Rocket, NiCE and Decagon. The aim is to distinguish legitimate bots from malicious ones.

Walmart said its blockers on Muse were not intentional and that it is partnered with Muse. That partnership was announced in September at Meta's Connect developer conference.

Delta said it does not currently have a partnership or integration enabling a third-party AI agent to shop for or book Delta flights on a customer's behalf. United pointed to its Terms of Use policy prohibiting the use of robots, spiders or other automatic devices to monitor or copy its website without prior written permission.
