AMD's Lisa Su visits Samsung to secure more HBM4 supply

AMD has begun shipping Instinct MI455 accelerators with 432GB of HBM4 as its CEO meets Samsung in South Korea over memory and foundry ties.

AMD CEO Lisa Su is visiting South Korea to negotiate additional HBM memory supply for the company's AI accelerators and to discuss a broader partnership with Samsung, according to tomshardware.com.

The talks cover memory supply as well as foundry chip production. Su and Jack Huynh attended the AMD Gamer Day event in South Korea before visiting Samsung headquarters.

AMD has begun shipping its Instinct MI455 accelerators, which carry 432GB of HBM4 memory onboard, along with rack-scale Helios AI systems. Samsung has become a principal supplier of HBM4 for AMD's Instinct MI400-series accelerators.

Earlier agreement

In March 2025, AMD and Samsung signed a non-binding three-year memorandum of understanding covering HBM4 and advanced DDR5 memory supply, AI memory co-development, foundry opportunities, and advanced packaging.
