Anthropic report shows fewer junior technical staff, more meetings
Junior technical hires fell from 27% to 9% of the total since early 2025, according to a company report published Friday.
Anthropic published a report on Friday showing that its technical workforce has become less junior over the past year and that employees are spending more time in meetings as Claude takes on more work. TechCrunch reported on the findings.
According to the company, the share of junior-level employees in its technical departments fell from 21% to 14% since early 2025, while the proportion of junior technical hires dropped from 27% to 9% over the same period.
Technical teams now account for 56% of Anthropic's workforce, down from 61%. The company attributes the smaller share partly to business functions expanding as it scales and partly to coding tools that let non-technical employees produce software.
In an April 2026 survey, 27% of Anthropic employees said they had become more productive because of Claude, and 20% said their job had shifted from doing work to managing Claudes. The company said human attention and judgment are becoming a bottleneck as Claude generates large amounts of text that needs review.
Calendar data also showed meeting time per employee rose 20% year over year, and 16% for technical contributors.
