Bosch unveils lighter Active Line Plus e-bike motor
The new drive weighs about 2.7 kg, is 17 percent smaller and comes with 60 Nm of torque; Trek's Marlin+ will be the first North American model to use it.
Bosch has unveiled a new generation of its Active Line Plus e-bike drive motor, a smaller and lighter unit that will first appear in North America on a Trek model. The company said the new motor delivers up to 600 watts of peak output and up to 60 Nm of torque, with pedal assist support of up to 340 percent.
Bosch reduced the motor's volume by 17 percent and cut about 500 g of weight compared with the previous product, bringing the new unit to about 2.7 kg. The motor uses a new two-stage reduction gear structure, and its housing is made with about 40 percent recycled aluminum. It also supports eShift, the electronic automatic shifting system.
In the US, the motor is used on Class 1 e-bikes with pedal assist up to 20 mph, or about 32 km/h. Trek will be the first e-bike brand in North America to use it, on the Marlin+ electric mountain bike.
Bosch also introduced several companion components: an LED controller 65 percent smaller than the existing LED remote, a ConnectModule with Bluetooth-based theft tracking, a 720Wh PowerTube battery and the Intuvia 200 display, which has a 2.4-inch monochrome screen.
The Active Line Plus launch was reported by Elektrek, according to digitaltoday.co.kr.
