Dell adds identity recovery and quantum-safe encryption to PowerProtect
Dell Technologies also launched a Dell MDR service and two AI security offerings, plus post-quantum readiness assessments for enterprises.
Dell Technologies expanded its PowerProtect cyber resilience portfolio on October 27, 2026, adding software that restores compromised identity platforms, a separate managed detection and response service, AI security services, an upgraded AI assistant and quantum-resistant encryption. The company announced the additions as part of the portfolio update, according to SiliconANGLE.
The new PowerProtect software returns compromised identity platforms to a trusted state. It supports Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID and Okta, and can restore access permission settings.
Alongside the software, Dell launched the Dell Identity Threat Detection and Response (MDR) service, which monitors suspicious authentication attempts, compromised accounts and privilege misuse around the clock. The two are separate offerings: the monitoring runs through the MDR service, not through the PowerProtect software itself.
AI services and storage changes
Dell introduced a Dell AI Factory Security Hardening service, in which Dell experts review customers' AI factories across physical, virtual and application layers to find configuration risks. A second service, AI Resilience Operations, identifies essential AI functions and provides recovery plans and procedures after outages.
The AI assistant delivered through PowerProtect Data Manager now lets administrators handle recovery and report creation through a chat interface, with human approval required for suggested actions. PowerProtect can also automatically manage local snapshots that prevent deletion on the PowerScale NAS system.
On storage, Dell applied quantum-resistant encryption to Fibre Channel data traffic on PowerStore all-flash systems with its latest software. The company also released a Post-Quantum Readiness Assessment service that finds weak cryptography in an organization and ranks it by risk.
Quick answers
Which identity platforms does Dell's new PowerProtect software support?
Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID and Okta. It can restore access permission settings on those platforms.
What is the difference between Dell's PowerProtect identity software and Dell MDR?
The PowerProtect software restores compromised identity platforms to a trusted state. The Dell Identity Threat Detection and Response (MDR) service monitors suspicious authentication attempts, compromised accounts and privilege misuse around the clock.
What quantum-resistant feature did Dell add to PowerStore?
Dell applied quantum-resistant encryption to Fibre Channel data traffic on PowerStore all-flash storage with its latest software.
