Dentsu Lab Tokyo Shows Slurp-Free 'Su Ramen' at CEATEC 2026

The device recreates the sensation of slurping ramen through scent, sound and vibration, with no noodles or soup involved.

Dentsu Lab Tokyo is exhibiting its 'Sū Ramen' device at CEATEC 2026, held at Makuhari Messe, according to japan.cnet.com. The exhibit reproduces the sensation of slurping ramen without using noodles or soup.

The device combines scent, sound and vibration transmitted to the lips. A user places a mouthpiece in their mouth and takes several light sips, as if slurping noodles. A vertical display connected to a ramen bowl shows video of noodles being slurped in Time with the sipping.

Fragrance company Soda Aromatic cooperated on the scent. The booth also offers a 'kaedama' extra noodle refill option, and a dog-like robot exhibit in which the robot responds to people with gestures is shown at the same booth, alongside FANTOUCHIE, an AI that generates touch sensations from words.

Dentsu Lab Tokyo says commercialization of the product is undecided. The organization handles experience development combining technology and ideas, and Sū Ramen began as a project combining food and entertainment.

In December 2025, Dentsu Lab Tokyo unveiled Sū Ramen as one of its new prototypes at 'Dentsu Lab Tokyo OPEN LAB 2025', held at Dentsu Hall in Shiodome, Tokyo. According to the person in charge, the trigger was a team member who had to cut down on salt for health reasons, which led to creating an experience of slurping ramen without consuming salt.
