NTT Docomo launches Hakone Ekiden card designs with 6% points pledge
Users who set the Hakone Ekiden design and collect d Points trigger a matching contribution from Docomo, with no points deducted from users.
NTT Docomo began offering Hakone Ekiden-themed card skins on October 15 for the mobile d Point Card in the d Point Club app and for the d Barai app, according to k-tai.watch.impress.co.jp. The designs remain available until January 31, 2027.
Under the programme, when a user who has set the Hakone Ekiden design collects d Points, Docomo itself covers an amount equivalent to 6% of the points accumulated during the qualifying period and pays it as a support contribution.
The company said the equivalent amount is not deducted from users' points. Eligibility is assessed on whether the Hakone Ekiden design is set at the end of each month.
The contributions go to the Kanto Student Athletics Federation and are intended for use in running future editions of the Hakone Ekiden.
