Genon wins Scale-up TIPS funding for humanoid robot error-recovery AI
Genon will lead the project with 2 billion won in government funding through August 2029 and test the technology on its GenP humanoid.
Genon said on November 4, 2026, that it has been selected for the Scale-up TIPS R&D program run by South Korea's Ministry of SMEs and Startups, according to digitaltoday.co.kr. The company will act as the lead research institution for the project.
The selected project is titled development of behavior supervision technology based on an embodied-cognitive world model. Genon will receive 2 billion won in government funding over three years, through August 2029.
The core goal is technology that lets humanoid robots detect and recover from their own errors while carrying out multi-step tasks. Genon plans to combine its Action Supervision technology with a world model that predicts future situations from the results of actions.
The research results will be validated on Genon's own humanoid, GenP, in real work environments. The company also plans to expand applications to living support and docent services at welfare facilities, and to commercialize robot operation software licenses and subscription services.
The project was selected through a recommendation by GN Tech Venture Investment, an existing Genon investor and a Scale-up TIPS operator. "We will secure technical competitiveness and foster physical AI as a new growth engine," said Genon CTO Myung Dae-woo, according to the report.
Earlier platform work
In March 2026, Genon established a Physical AI research institute and has been developing an AI engine and the Physical Ops integrated robot operation platform.
