Glimpse Launches Explore for Faster CT Quality Control

Glimpse's new Explore product lets aerospace, automotive, electronics and medical device customers speed up CT quality control checks.

Glimpse launched Explore, a new product that lets customers in aerospace, automotive, electronics and medical devices use its image processing software to speed up quality control checks with CT scanners, according to TechCrunch. The software is aimed at labs and development environments.

Glimpse says its software allows battery manufacturers to inspect cells 10 to 30 times faster by boosting throughput on existing CT scanners. The company is also developing a customer "super scanner" with partners that could complete a scan in a second or two, and is opening a second Scan On Demand center in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Customer base and revenue

Glimpse says it has over 100 customers, including Anker, Lucid and the U.S. Navy, and generates revenue in the mid seven-figure range.

Battery quality control has drawn attention after a problem at an LG battery factory caused some parts inside Chevy Bolt cells made between 2017 and 2022 to be installed improperly, costing LG $1.9 billion. Volkswagen, Stellantis, Hyundai and Toyota have also suffered recalls in the EV space.
