Google Rolls Out Seven Firmware Updates for Nest and Home Speakers
The updates cover audio playback, bass tuning, Bluetooth resume, local discovery and Wi-Fi 7 access points using WPA3 security.
Google has detailed seven firmware updates for its Nest and Home smart speakers, covering audio quality, Bluetooth playback, device discovery, Wi-Fi 7 compatibility and Google Meet call controls, according to 9to5google.com.
Streaming performance improves on Nest Audio, Google Home and Google Home Mini, which Google says makes for smoother audio playback. A feature called Speaker Pair Volume Tuning reduces boomy bass and keeps minimum volume levels clearly audible.
A bug fix stops Bluetooth audio streaming from a connected laptop or other device from automatically pausing after a voice resume command. A separate fix addresses the inability to end Google Meet calls with voice commands.
Local device discovery in the Google Home app is now faster and more reliable for the Google Home Speaker, Nest Audio and Nest Mini. Speaker groups and stereo pairs no longer unexpectedly disappear or become undiscoverable in the app.
Google also resolved an issue that prevented smart speakers from connecting to Wi-Fi 7 access points using WPA3 security. The company did not specify the firmware versions for these updates.
As separate context, Google has also detailed updates for Chromecast with Google TV and Nest Wifi Pro alongside the speaker updates.
