Google rolls out software updates for Nest Wifi, Chromecast and Nest Cams
The rollout covers Nest Wifi and Nest Wifi Pro routers, HD and 4K Chromecast with Google TV models, Nest speakers and several older Nest cameras.
Google released a set of software updates for its smart home hardware and has begun rolling them out, according to androidauthority.com. The updates cover Nest Wifi routers, Chromecast with Google TV streamers, Nest speakers and several Nest camera models.
The Nest Wifi and Nest Wifi Pro updates improve DNS request handling when a server is unreachable and improve mesh performance.
The HD and 4K Chromecast with Google TV models receive firmware fixes along with the August 2026 security patch level. On the audio side, the Google Home Speaker, Nest Audio and Nest Mini get fixes for Wi-Fi 7 and WPA3 issues, plus improved streaming performance and volume controls. Those updates also make the speakers show up faster when casting and fix Bluetooth problems, Google Meet call issues and a speaker group bug that made speakers disappear.
The camera updates cover the Nest Cam Indoor (1st gen), Nest Cam Outdoor (1st gen), the wired Nest Doorbell (1st gen, also known as Nest Hello), the Nest Cam IQ Indoor and the Nest Cam IQ Outdoor. On the older Nest Cams, Google fixed slow transitions between regular and night mode, while the Doorbell gets improved sync and fewer unexpected resets.
The Cam IQ status lights receive a small fix, and all camera models get Wi-Fi stability tweaks.
