Google Translate Tests Auto-Save Transcripts, Disabled on Smart Glasses

Google Translate is testing a new "Auto-save transcript" toggle within the Live Translate settings for mobile users, according to Android Authority. The feature was spotted in version 10.37.74.985146169 of the app.

When enabled, the toggle would automatically save transcripts of live translations. However, the same setting is disabled when using smart glasses, a privacy measure designed to protect the people being translated.

Smart glasses users can already start translation with voice commands and end a session by swiping backward on the touchpad. The auto-save restriction adds another layer of privacy for bystanders.

Google has not announced a timeline for when these features might reach users.
