Google and XREAL announced the wired XR glasses XREAL AURA on October 28. The device runs on the Android XR platform, and orders opened the same day in the US, Canada and South Korea, according to japan.cnet.com.
Japanese orders open on November 2. The direct-sale price in Japan is 229,800 yen. In the US, a launch promotional price starts at $1,099 through the end of the year. Shipping is scheduled to begin in mid-November.
The glasses offer a 70-degree field of view and weigh 95g. The chip and battery sit in a separate small device connected by cable, and that unit uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon Reality Elite.
The system supports Bluetooth keyboards and mice, and the small device can be used as a touchpad. A Wired Mirroring feature displays a laptop screen over a USB-C cable without installing dedicated software.
XREAL AURA also supports the Gemini AI assistant and more than 150 apps developed for XR. The target age is 18 and over.
