Huawei brings Tau Scaling Law design to base stations with UBBPi and VitaAAU
Huawei says time compression on its UBBPi baseband products lifted average perceived network quality 1.3 times and cut energy use by 40%.
Huawei said on October 28 that it has applied its Tau Scaling Law-based time compression design to a new generation of wireless base stations, covering its UBBPi baseband products and the VitaAAU upper 6GHz equipment, according to digitaltoday.co.kr.
The company said applying time compression to its latest UBBPi baseband products raised average perceived network quality 1.3 times and cut energy consumption by 40%. It is the first time Huawei has brought its new semiconductor design framework into its base station product line.
Huawei also unveiled the VitaAAU, which it describes as the world's first commercial upper 6GHz equipment. The company said the unit is already commercially deployed in the UAE and other countries and supports maximum download speeds above 10Gbps.
From chips to networks
Huawei first disclosed the Tau Scaling Law and its LogicFolding architecture in May 2026, aiming to reach 1.4nm-class transistor performance by 2031 without advanced lithography equipment. In September 2026 it unveiled the Kirin 9050 Pro, the first commercial chip built on LogicFolding, used in the Mate XT 2 Tri-fold phone with 42% higher overall performance than its predecessor.
The company has said it plans to apply LogicFolding to its flagship Ascend 990 AI chip around 2030. Also in September 2026, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a five-year plan with a roadmap to 2030 aimed at leading next-generation networks.
