Twenty units were registered during the period, and the total rises to 35 when pending deliveries are included.
Of that total, 22 units were supplied or are awaiting delivery to taxi operators in major Japanese hubs including Tokyo and Aichi Prefecture. The remaining units went to other buyers.
Hyundai has moved to strengthen its presence in Japan beyond vehicle sales. The company supported the Korean archery national team with courtesy vehicles during the Asian Games and operates a dedicated pickup stand at Nagoya Station.
Public support for hydrogen taxis
Local government programs underpin part of the demand. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government supports hydrogen taxi adoption and fuel cost differences through the TOKYO H2 project, while Aichi Prefecture provides a subsidy of 3.5 million yen per vehicle for adoption.
The All-New Nexo was launched in Japan in April. It offers a single-charge range of 1,014 km under Japan's WLTC certification, 510 liters of cargo space, and a V2H emergency power supply, and is equipped with a 94 kW fuel cell and an 80 kW high-voltage battery.
