Jaewon Food warns staff and store owners of possible data leak via Douzone Bizon backup service
Douzone Bizon told the food company on October 28 that data on a backup server may have leaked; names, phone numbers and bank account numbers could be exposed.
Jaewon Food has warned its employees and store owners that their personal information may have been leaked through a vulnerability in the APO backup service operated by Douzone Bizon, according to dailysecu.com. The company posted the notice on its website.
Jaewon Food said Douzone Bizon notified it at 10:25 p.m. on October 28, 2026 that personal data stored on a backup server may have been leaked. Douzone Bizon found anomalies during a service check and confirmed the vulnerability in its backup solution after consulting the solution provider.
An internal investigation found signs that some encrypted data stored on the backup server was taken outside through the vulnerability. The data potentially exposed includes names, phone numbers, birth dates, email addresses and bank account numbers.
Douzone Bizon forcibly shut down the affected servers, blocked access from overseas IP addresses and reported the breach to the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA).
Jaewon Food advised store owners to be alert to impersonation calls, texts or emails that ask for settlement account changes or money transfers. The notice is separate from any request for payment: no legitimate request to change a settlement account should be accepted without independent verification.
Ongoing measures
Jaewon Food had used Douzone Bizon's APO backup service to store and recover work data, according to dailysecu.com. The company did not say how many people are affected.
