KT, LG Uplus sign university security and AI talent deals
KT will open a convergence security contract department with Seoul National University, while LG Uplus agreed with Seoul Women's University on AI and data research.
KT signed an agreement with Seoul National University on November 5 to establish a convergence security contract department, the company said. The department is aimed at employees of KT and KT Group and is designed to foster future security leaders, with its first semester set to begin in March 2027.
Separately, LG Uplus signed a memorandum of understanding with Seoul Women's University on November 3 covering joint research and professional talent development in personal information protection, AI and data.
Under the agreement, the two sides will jointly research technology for combining and analysing pseudonymised information, and verify technology that automatically detects sensitive information and pseudonymises it. LG Uplus will also take part in the university's master's and doctoral programme in personal information protection and utilisation, providing lecture advisory services.
The agreements were reported by techm.kr. In May 2025, KT had already signed a memorandum of understanding with Seoul National University for talent development and industry-academia research cooperation in AI and information security.
