LG Uplus SIM swap reaches 43% of subscribers
About 7.47 million SIM replacements have been completed, and 620,000 of them came through automatic updates started on October 22, ZDNet Korea reports.
LG Uplus said on November 3 that about 7.47 million SIM replacements had been completed since the process began on April 13, equal to 43% of its total subscriber base, including budget-phone users, according to ZDNet Korea.
About 8% of those replacements, or 620,000, were handled through an automatic update that began on October 22. The replacement rate stood at 38% on October 20 and rose 5 percentage points in roughly two weeks.
The carrier has moved up an automatic update schedule originally set for November and is changing SIM information without requiring a separate request. About 9.9 million subscribers have yet to complete the swap, and the company aims to finish the process for all subscribers by the end of the year.
How to complete the swap
Subscribers can change their SIM information remotely through the U+ONE app or the official website, or book an appointment and swap the SIM at a store. LG Uplus is processing subscribers in batches to prevent errors from large-scale simultaneous updates, and customers who prefer to wait can postpone the update until the end of the year.
Some older devices do not support the automatic update and require a manual SIM replacement.
