Mizuno unveils pilot suit and flight posture algorithm for emblem's flying device

The stirrup was co-developed with JAXA to reduce harness pressure on the groin, while the suit uses heat- and flame-resistant materials.

Mizuno Corporation announced on October 22, 2026 that it has developed dedicated pilot gear and a posture-control algorithm for the wearable flying device being developed by emblem Inc., the JAXA-originated startup. The announcement was reported by ascii.jp.

The gear consists of two parts: a stirrup and a suit. The stirrup was co-developed with JAXA to disperse and reduce pressure on the body, particularly in the groin area, caused by the sit harness during flight.

The suit draws on Mizuno's own design for ease of movement and uses heat- and flame-resistant materials to protect the pilot from engine heat.

According to the companies, the device has already succeeded in flying with both hands free. They aim to sell a prototype and put the device to practical use in 2030.

Background
