Naver signs Brookfield deal for up to $9 billion in AI infrastructure

The contract with Brookfield clears the precondition for Nvidia's $1 billion strategic equity investment in Naver, the company said.

Naver signed a contract with Brookfield on October 27 to secure up to $9 billion in AI computing infrastructure, the company said. The agreement fulfills the precondition for Nvidia's $1 billion strategic equity investment in Naver.

Under the deal, Brookfield will establish a special purpose vehicle tentatively named "Asset Co." with up to $9 billion to acquire GPUs and data center AI infrastructure. Naver Cloud will operate the computing resources supplied by Asset Co. and provide AI computing services to external customers.

Asset Co. will be wholly funded by Brookfield's investment vehicle but consolidated as a Naver subsidiary under K-IFRS. Instead of buying the infrastructure directly, Naver Cloud will pay usage fees linked to business revenue, and Naver will provide a payment guarantee of up to 8 years for those obligations.

Nvidia will supply technical cooperation centered on DSX, its next-generation high-performance computing platform. The AI factory will be built around the hyperscale data center Gak Sejong, with Naver planning to begin operating 55 MW of infrastructure in the first half of 2027 and expand to 200 MW by 2028.

Naver also plans to complete the third-party allotment paid-in capital increase for Nvidia promptly, according to digitaltoday.co.kr. In October 2025, Naver had set securing at least $9 billion in computing infrastructure, excluding Nvidia's investment, as a precondition for that investment.
