Naver adds Trend recommendations to Papago for foreign users
The Papago Trend button shows popular Korean products and places drawn from image translation data, with AI briefings in the user's device language.
Naver introduced a new feature called Trend in its Papago translation app on October 19, 2026, according to digitaltoday.co.kr. The feature recommends popular Korean products and places to foreign users, drawing on image translation data from the app.
Trend appears as a button at the top right of the Papago home screen, but only for users whose device language is set to a foreign language. It supports English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, while users on other device languages are served content in English.
The product section is split into a top 100 of popular products, a rising popular products list, and the categories beauty, food and health. Selecting a product brings up an AI briefing in the device language and links to Naver Blog and Naver Shopping for reviews and further details.
The place section lists the top 100 popular places, rising popular places and regional rankings covering areas such as Myeongdong, Hongdae, Seongsu, Jeju and Busan. Choosing a place shows opening hours, location, menu and user reviews from Naver Place in the device language, along with directions through Naver Map and booking.
The launch builds on earlier work by Naver to connect image translation to local information. In April 2026, the company linked image translation results to restaurant and store information from Naver Place and to product information presented through AI briefings. In July 2026, it expanded the features so that photographing Japanese signs or product images returned restaurant and product information from Tabelog.
